It's December and the fall foilage is gorgeous in central Arkansas. I can't help but wonder if the dought this summer had something to do with the abundant colors. Old Mill is a favorite place to take photos and it did not fail to disappoint on this December day.
T. R. Pugh Memorial Park (also known as The Old Mill) is a re-creation of an 1880s era water-powered grist mill located in North Little Rock, Arkansas. It was used in the opening scenes of the movie classic Gone With The Wind.
The park was built in 1933 by Justin Matthews and named in honor of Thomas R. Pugh, of Portland, Arkansas, who was a close friend and benefactor of Matthews. The architect for the park and the mill was Frank Carmean with artist Dionicio Rodriguez serving as sculptor of the concrete work to simulate wooden, iron, and steel structures.
Lake #2 has traditionally been known as the fishing lake. It is the largest of the six lakes with an area of approximately 60 acres. It has a length of 3600 feet between the Old Mill Park and the dam at the south end of the lake.
